Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton claim that they would be better against John McCain in the fall, and yet they are wasting time and money attacking one another. At the height of the attacks, Clinton (whom I've been tempted to start calling Hillary Cheney because of her tactics), claimed last week that both she and McCain (rather than she and Obama) were qualified to be commander in chief. In doing this she is hurting the Democratic party and herself. And now, after the Clinton victories in Texas and Ohio, Obama is threatening to fall into the trap of negative campaigning.
Instead, both campaigns should come together and start running against McCain. If they want to show Democratic voters what they can do against McCain, don't try it out on each other: start running against the republicans now. In this way, Democrats are not wasting money on each other and the RNC does not know who to attack. Democrats will get publicity because of the tight race and McCain's press will all be responses to the Democratic claims against them.
Come on, Dems, be smart. If you lose this election, you might as well throw in the towel.
